The Normal Avenue Parking Structure project is a four-story parking structure located on the California State University Chico campus that houses the University Police Department, Environmental Health & Safety, and Campus Information Center. The structure provides 359 automobile spaces (including up to 10 electric vehicle charging stations), 11 motorcycle stalls, and 242 bicycle parking stalls and a single-story building.
The Design-Build project was designed to LEED Gold equivalent. It incorporates a 78kW solar array located on the roof, which also provides shade for the parking stalls on that level. Other sustainable features are incorporated throughout, including energy-saving lights with motion sensors and interiors painted with reflective white paint.
MatriScope provided services related to: earthwork observation, exploratory borings advanced to depths of 20 to 45 feet below existing ground surface, geologic hazard study, geotechnical investigation, materials testing during construction, peer review on construction documents, and related laboratory testing.
